I N S P I R A T I O N
My work is influenced by human anatomy, medical specimens, natural history museums, botanical illustration, entomology and a whole host of other weird and wonderful things. All of these inspirations come together to form my surreal
dark art illustrations. Much of what I depict is pulled from phenomena that already exists within the natural and scientific world, but I use creative licence to
imagine almost-real curiosities of my own.
‘Memento Mori’ is a phrase I find myself drawn to time and time again, and
this motto informs all of my work to some degree. Latin for ‘Remember You Will Die’, ‘Memento Mori’ initially suggests a morbid, death focused outlook on life.
However, I see ‘Memento Mori’ as inherently positive, especially in combination with the similar phrase ‘Memento Vivere’, ‘Remember To Live’. In essence; I surround myself with death to remind myself to live.
E D U C A T I O N
I graduated from the University of the Arts London with first class honours in Illustration & Visual Media (BA Hons.) in 2016. It was here that I started to realise that a university courses often lack the other kinds of education that artists need, such as business advice, marketing promotion and wellbeing. Advising up and coming artists is a passion of mine as much as making work is. My mission is to spread knowledge openly and to lend a helping hand to other creatives as much as I can.
